Prairie Ridge Reformed Church’s fellowship hall renovation Phase 1 has been formally assigned a start date of September 15th, a development Elder Gerald Hoffstead described at Tuesday’s session meeting as “imminent.” The Dispatch notes this is the first time Elder Hoffstead has used the word imminent in reference to the renovation and is treating it as significant. Elder Thomas Langley, reached for comment, did not say anything. He appeared to be processing.

The renovation scope for Phase 1 includes flooring, lighting, and electrical infrastructure. The coffee station — which Nathan Briggs has maintained since July must be addressed before “any other work is considered” — has been formally assigned to a dedicated subcommittee charged with specifications, placement, and equipment recommendations. The subcommittee currently has one member. That member is Nathan Briggs. He was asked by this reporter whether a one-person subcommittee presented any structural concerns. Nathan said it presented none. He said this with the confidence of a man who has been preparing for this role since July and does not require oversight to function effectively.

Nathan’s amended constitutional proposal has been submitted and acknowledged by the session. The proposal, which originally targeted Article IX and has since expanded to reference Articles IV and XI following his reading of the full document, is now fourteen pages. Brandon Keyes formally requested permission to document the Phase 1 renovation on his newsletter Soli Deo Gloria, describing the coverage as “an opportunity to provide the congregation with exclusive behind-the-scenes access to an important chapter in Prairie Ridge’s institutional history.” The session has not formally approved or denied the request. Brandon has begun documenting anyway. He has described his approach as “proactive editorial preparation.” Nathan Briggs, who is the subcommittee, has approved Brandon’s access to the coffee station planning materials. Nathan confirmed he has authority to make this decision. The Dispatch has not independently verified this claim.

Pastor Mike Williams announced his fall sermon series on Sunday: “Steadfast: Walking Through the Psalms — A Study in Covenantal Faithfulness; For the People Who Remain.” The title has a colon. The subtitle has a semicolon. Elder Hoffstead reviewed it in the bulletin for eleven seconds before turning the page. He did not comment publicly. Two members have already told the Dispatch they consider the subtitle “encouraging.” One considers it “a lot.”
